Explore Assisi 

Nestled atop Mount Subasio in the picturesque region of Umbria, lies the enchanting town of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Although Assisi is a tiny city, it has a rich cultural heritage. Amazing Roman remains, churches with murals, picturesque piazzas bathed in sunlight, and a fortress with stunning views. This site provides great recommendations for what to do in Assisi. 

Wine Tasting

The Umbrian region is less famous than Tuscany for its  wines, but that doesn't mean they are of any less quality. There are some amazing vineyards to try where you can turn up and do a tasting. Some local recommendations are: 

• Tili Vini - An organic vineyard close to Assisi and highly rated. 

• SAIO - Right in front of the city of Assisi lies this vineyard. 

• Cantina Scacciadiavoli - One of the oldest winery in the area of Montefalco.

There are also lots of vineyards where you can book specific tours, lunches or bespoke tastings but for most of these, you will need to do this in advance. We found the article here to be really helpful in understanding some of the options available.

Truffle Hunting

One of our favourite memories in Italy is going truffle hunting, so we can highly recommend this unique experience. We suggest making an afternoon of it and going hunting for the fragrant truffles that are local to the Umbrian region. A great place to try this is Tili Vini but make sure you book in advance. 

Hiking

Umbria is a beautiful hiking destination and the great thing is that it's easily accessible for all. For those who aren't used to hikes, we can suggest parking at Bosco di San Francesco where there is a visitor centre and two marked circular trails for you to follow - one through the Forrest and one up to the Basilica in Assisi. Although the one to the basilica is steep the other is largely flat and neither takes more than an hour to complete. Once done you can have lunch at one of our favourite restaurants Osteria del Mulino.

Pasta Making 

Feel like channelling your inner pasta granny? Partake in a cooking class hosted at Castello di Petrata and have fun making fresh pasta for lunch! This activity will be available Saturday the 27th around lunch time & we need a minimum of 20 people interested to run the activity so let us know. 

Lake Trasimeno

Lake Trasimeno is the largest lake in central Italy and a great stopping point by itself or on your way through Tuscany or Rome. It's surrounded by beautiful medieval towns and hosts a range of activities such as fishing, watersports, hiking, cycle tours and art galleries. Where you decide to stop off and visit will depend on your interests. We suggest looking at this website to get an idea of where to go.
